Mercury deposits of the Almaden district are the Silurian-Devonian in age, while mercury deposits of the Donetsk basin are of Permian-Triassic age. Mercury and Au-Hg deposits of the Central Asian belt, localized in Early Paleozoic and Hercinian orogenic belts, are related to various metallogenic epochs (Table 1). This species is a junior syn-onym of Rhegmaphyllum daytonensis (Foerste) (Laub, pers. observation). Of 13 specimens with clearly visible cal-ices, 11 have axial whorls. Of 9 more specimens of this species that I have col-lected from the same unit in Ohio, all with clear calices, 5 show an axial whorl.
On the other hand, all well. Paleontology: The Silurian Period was one of the shorter periods of the geologic time scale. Trilobites, brachiopods, crinoids, and bryozoans were abundant in the shallow seas. Within the Silurian rocks, we find the first coral reefs, which were built by now extinct tabulate and rugose corals rather than the familiar stony corals of modern reefs.
